Magnestar News

  • Currently, there are over 8,000 satellites orbiting Earth; enabling global telecommunication networks, financial transactions, GPS navigation, earth imagery, and other critical services we depend on. These space enabled services rely on radio spectrum, a scare resource which is prone to interference.

Through interviews with over 1,000 people in the space sector, Magnestar discovered that as we grow to over 100,000 satellites in space, the overall noise level between Earth and space is set to increase. Making signal interference and outages more likely to occur, and limiting our ability to depend on space technology.

Magnestar was founded in December 2021 with the objective to create harmony between the global need for equitable access to spectrum, the data needs of current operators for maintenance of interference-free operations, and to ensure the clarity of space communications.

  • Magnestar’s core product is 24/7x, a software platform which conducts short-term and long-term interference simulations, embeds the simulations within modern, collaborative coordination infrastructure to expedite the process, and monitors in near real time the spectrum environment to ensure compliance post coordination.

24/7x is an enablement tool which protects existing spectrum rights, enables equitable access for new operators and ensures quality service for all customers.

Magnestar takes an industry approach to this industry problem, looking at all spectrum bands and advancing research in optical interference.

  • Magnestar builds technology that, at its core, brings people together.

In her application to the International Space University, Jacqueline Good - Magnestar’s Founder and CEO - highlighted this desire to build technology to benefit humanity, and that she would leverage her background in data infrastructure, relationship science, and space, in order to do so.

In the Summer of 2021, Jacqueline was accepted, sponsored by the European Space Agency and completed the International Space University’s summer program in space engineering.

Jacqueline was previously the lead Canadian Solutions Engineer for TIBCO Software, the data infrastructure company which majority of financial stock markets depend on. Jacqueline recognised that the concept of a clearing house which was proven successful in financial markets, could be leveraged in the space sector to clear paths of communications, like you would clear financial trades.

Within the first 24 months of operations, Jacqueline has:

    • Graduated from Entrepreneur First, TO2

    • Won Startupfest 2022, Best of Fest, Best Pitch

    • Won the SATELLITE 2023 Startup Award

    • Completed Techstars, with the Saudi Space Commission

    • Graduated from the Creative Destruction Lab 2023 Space Stream

    • TechCrunch Disrupt 2023, Top 6 Finalist

    • Selected for SoCal Canadian Space Accelerator

    Invited to speak at:

    • SpaceBound 2022, 2023

    • MilSat 2022, 2023

    • SpaceCom 2023

    • SATELLITE 2023, 2024

    • Startupfest 2023

    • The United Nations

    • SmallSat Symposium 2024

Magnestar is building the future we want to live in.

24/7x

Based on interviews conducted of a large number of entities involved in coordination and regulations for satellite networks, Magnestar has produced 24/7x, a software platform which has built the foundations for a secondary spectrum market.

24//7x conducts short-term and long-term interference simulations, embeds the simulations within modern, collaborative coordination infrastructure to expedite the process and monitors the real world spectrum environment to protect spectrum rights.
